This wasn’t the first blog post we were supposed to write. But what happened with WWF gave us a good chance to talk about the challenge ahead.
They tried. We’re still trying @opensea 🌐 https://t.co/olh1rcnK77 https://t.co/JgdGEjB8Ja

The World Wide Fund for Nature in the United Kingdom (WWF UK) launched an NFT project called ”Tokens for Nature” on Thursday 3rd February. Their genesis drop focused on thirteen endangered species. Each NFT had about the same amount of editions as the number of the animals left in the wild. The funds from the NFT sales were supposed to help protect the future of these endangered species and their habitats.
Just 24 hours to go… ⏳

Our #WWFTokensForNature focus on 13 endangered species 🐼🦧🦍
Releasing our NFTs on the eco-friendly @0xPolygon blockchain, each transaction has the equivalent carbon emissions of a glass of tap water.

We were really excited to find out about the project and went ahead to share it to the community. Soon we realised that not everyone was happy about the fundraiser. Some people seemed to have a totally different perspective.
Haha, let's destroy the planet 🤣

Maybe the comment about destroying the planet was meant as a joke but we definately were not laughing. Saving the planet is our most important mission and propably WWF has the same agenda.
There’s so much potential to do good with NFTs. We truly believe CryptoArt can help us raise funds to solve the climate crisis and at the same time influence and motivate each and every human to take action. 80% from our NFT sales will go to our EARTH fund for important climate initiatives and 8% goes to our ART fund supporting rising digital artists who share our vision. Check out our genesis drop @opensea
We need to do our homework…
Yes there’s a lot of work to be done with the POW blockchains to fix their high consumption of energy. At the same time there are already good POS alternatives that are close to carbon neutral. This is a new world which pretty soon will be adopted on so many levels it will become part of our daily lives. We need to do our homework before turning our back on this opportunity. Let’s embrace the possibilities and work together for a cleaner future!
